I have a buckskin pony that was found as an abandoned brumby foal near Stannary hills FNQ. So in the same general area as BJ. We think she was somehow separated from her herd in the bushfires at the time. I think it was early 2012. The farmer was out checking on his property after fires and she popped up out of the long grass and started following him on his 4 wheeler. He simply rode to the nearest cattle yards and she followed him in. He said there was no sign of the mob.
She has been an absolute superstar. Broken to harness and saddle she is such a smart little pony. She has always maintained that bit of wild though. Can be difficult to catch but a hard worker once under saddle or in harness.
